The 7 Chakra Points of the Body and How They Work

The 7 Chakra Points of the Body and How They Work

body mind connection logoIn Yogic and Buddhist traditions, the body is made up of both the physical and astral bodies, both of which function separately but, have the ability to affect the state of the other. These traditions believe that, like the nervous system, the astral body also has an energy system made up of 7 major Chakra points that allows energy to enter and leave the body.

The 7 Chakra points are located along the spine and correspond with aspects of both the astral and physical bodies. These Chakras are linked to the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual centers of the human body. Mastering the 7 Chakra points can help you to lead a healthier lifestyle and advance your spiritual and emotional well-being.

Each of the 7 Chakra points corresponds with a different part of the body and various mental and emotional states. If you are sick or feeling out of balance, there is a good chance that you can trace the cause back to an imbalance in one of the 7 Chakra points. Here is how they work: Read the rest of this entry

Yoga Postures for Weight Loss

Yoga Postures for Weight Loss

Weight Loss Yoga Poses

By Lorean Hover

An amazing way to make your body more flexible and strengthen it up is to go for the yoga postures for weight loss program. It is literally effective while you use it in the right way to lose weight.

Moreover, it is relatively easy to do. Although it does not mean that you can lose weight in a jiffy, if you put dedication into it, then it will work.

Good sides of yoga

This is a form of exercise that makes your body take in more oxygen and trains the lungs, making them physically powerful and benefits your respiratory system. In most cases, you have to remain in the same yoga position for around 15 seconds, and the hard ones would give you a tough time doing so.

This means that even though it is not an extreme kind of workout, it does make your body work, and lets you see the results soon. Not only can you do yoga exercises for weight loss, you can also do it for the sake of your muscles, because it tones them up, too. Read the rest of this entry

What You Need to Know for a Successful Practice

Beginning a Yoga Practice to Get Maximum Health Benefits of Yoga

by Giselle Toner
If you are just beginning to learn about yoga, you may be unsure about many things. You may be asking the question, “What exactly is yoga, how do I begin and what will it do for me?”

Yoga is viewed by advanced practitioners as a vast science that requires a lifetime of learning and dedication, and rightly so. However, you can easily implement the most basic yet powerful parts of it into your life and start feeling the wonderful health benefits of yoga immediately.

First and foremost, yoga is a stilling of the mind, a yogaquieting of the endless chatter that we have swirling constantly in our brains. When we achieve that stillness, profound results occur. The union of body, mind, breath and spirit is the core and central aspect of yoga. The word yoga means “union.”

Breathing

Breath is life! In yoga, a key component is focusing on the flow and rhythm of the breath. This breath control is called Pranayama, and there are several Pranayama breathing techniques that can be performed during a practice of yoga positions for beginners. Deep breathing is utilized to bring in more oxygen and energy to the body and to release stress from the muscles to promote a relaxing effect. As a result of controlled breathing, the mind begins to focus and settle. As the mind settles, the body follows, and the mind, body and breath all become one, eventually raising the functionality of the body and heightening the consciousness levels of the brain. Once you have achieved that deep meditative state of mind, you are now ready to enjoy the immense health benefits of yoga. Read the rest of this entry

Herbalism

Herbalism

rose geranium

Herbs have been used to treat every illness under the sun from the dawn of time. Every culture looks to its immediate environment for remedies, and Mother Nature makes sure each there is a natural remedy handy. This is why, in today’s “small world,” there are often many herbs reported to help the same malady.

In my opinion, you should look to the plants and herbs that grow naturally (or once grew naturally) in your own part of the world before considering a plant from a more exotic location.

For example, Americans should look to American herbs for natural remedies. More specifically, the best place to find an herbal remedy is within the culture of Native Americans indigenous to your area.

That being said, there are many ways to practice herbalism. Here are only a few: Read the rest of this entry

Massage Benefits

body mind connection logoA simple massage can help to heal your body, mind and spirit. Massage is widely practiced for many different reasons – as if “It feels great!” isn’t enough of a reason! Anyway, there are many reasons to massage yourself or someone you love.

Massage is a wonderfully simple way to introduce your children to holistic healing.

Massage therapy reduces the pain of migraines, chronic back ache and pulled or strained muscles.

Massage therapy improves blood circulation, which in turn improves your appearance, general health and emotional well-being.

Massage helps to relax away daily stress and the tension headaches and high blood pressure that stress can cause.

Massage helps you to sleep better and wake up healthier!

Massage helps to improve flexibility and range of motion, speeds healing and prevents further bodily injury.

Massage employs “the healing touch.” Massage is one way to receive the human touch and connection your body, mind and spirit crave.

*If you make your own massage oil, ensure that you use a proper carrier oil (like jojoba) and that your chosen herb is generally safe for contact with your skin. Would you really want to be massaged with hot chili oil?! Read the rest of this entry

Yellow Color Energy

Yellow Color Energy

Yellow energy is located at your waist, between your naval and your rib cage. Yellow energy is considered to be your intellectual center.

It is funny to me that our intellectual center is in our belly, but many of us favor brainy thought while ignoring our “gut” instincts!

Instead, “rational” people trust mental abilities like listing pros and cons or planning for (or worrying about) what-ifs.  This over-analyzing leads to action paralysis. We tend to do too much thinking in the brain, but ignore our gut, our intuition, our guide.

Healthy Dose of Yellow Energy

If you have a healthy level of yellow energy, you tend to be feeling open and outgoing. You are charming and warm, and others often feel their own self-confidence soar while in the presence of someone with healthy yellow energy. These People are contagious gigglers, both strong and relaxed, and highly respectful of others.

Yellow Energy Imbalance

If you recognize yourself in the following symptoms, do not worry. You are not doomed to a life of imbalanced yellow energy! There are simple ways to correct an imbalance in the last section of this page.

Too much Yellow

  • Egotistic
  • Demanding of perfection from yourself and others
  • Unfulfilled in your sex life although your partner is ‘willing’
  • Quick to judge others and yourself based on little or incorrect criteria

Too little Yellow

  • Self-doubting
  • Constantly seeking others’ approval
  • Insecure and/or afraid to be alone
  • Convinced the one you love is cheating on you while having no proof

How to Correct a Yellow Imbalance

Aaah, finally! The fun part! Below is a chart of ideas to help you to correct a too LOW yellow energy level. If you have a too high yellow energy level, you need to skip over to the purple energy chart.

You see, purple is yellow’s opposite. By working with purple, you will balance the yellow and purple energy flow. Your body will know whether the purple energy needs to rise to the level of yellow energy, or if your yellow energy needs to lower to the purple energy level. Sounds confusing…don’t worry about it. Your body will innately know what to do.

Yellow Chakras & Gates

Yellow Chakras & Gates

yellow modesty virtue

When you associate the color yellow with a chakra, you find its correlation in the solar plexus.

The solar plexus chakra reflects our feelings of personal power such as self-confidence, self-love, and self-acceptance. It is the energy center that regulates your physical metabolic rate and digestion.

This makes sense because your feelings of personal power are also metabolized in that those feelings must undergo changes, or stages, to support healthy life management skills. Read the rest of this entry

Color Energy and Chakras

Color Energy and Chakras

color logo reverseYou have probably heard of chakras, but have you heard of governing gates?  The governing gates are specific to healing energies, similar to how chakras respond to healing energies.  No-Eyes, a Native American teacher, adds a tweak to the Eastern view of chakras.

Although Gates and Chakras align in meaning and purpose pretty well, there are some important differences.

The first difference concerns chakra/gate number 3. No-Eyes said this area is the connection to Force, not a typical power point or chakra.  In other words, gate 3 is our umbilical cord connecting us to Spirit.

No-Eyes also believed that the second chakra is not a static energy. To her, the second chakra is the Kundalini, or flow of energy, within the body.  No-Eyes considered the energy of the second chakra to be The Force.

Gates open to allow the Force to flow through us.  When one of our gates malfunction, it impedes the flow of The Force.  In time, impeding your flow of The Force makes you sick.
